Tag Tuesday-Easter Bonnet

Easter Bonnet-What a lovely title for this week's tags on Tag Tuesday!
I hope you all have a Happy Easter and enjoy some
sunshine.
For my Easter Bonnet tag I used an image from The Graphics Fairy,
showing  a cat couple in their finest clothes. I feel sure that Mrs.
Cat is dressed in her Easter bonnet ready to go for a walk with her
consort!
I used some hand printed papers for the background, mounted onto
some hand made "fabric", made by collaging fabric and papers together.
I made a fabric border and added a cockerel stamp and a ceramic flower
button.
Last week Pat Brennan and I did a stash swap of our mixed media bits and
pieces. It is great to have some new materials to play with, and I am sure you
will spot some of your things in my tags, Pat!

A Tapestry for Spring

Here is a Spring tapestry for you!
I thought you would like to see this tapestry, hand
sewn by my mother, with such even neat stitches.
She exhibited it in the Harewood and District Agricultural
Show on June 3rd 1950, where she received a Highly
Commended certificate.
I like to put it up for a seasonal decoration at Easter.

Mixed Media Materials Swap

Look what arrived in the post for me this week!
This box of wonderful arty/crafty goodies came from Pat Brennan,
a fellow Tag Tuesday contributor. We decided to do a mixed
media materials or (stash) swap, as we had both been trying
to use our existing materials in our work, without buying more.
It seemed a good opportunity to do a bit of decluttering, send
each other some nice bits and pieces, and to have the pleasure
of receiving new stuff without going shopping!
I am looking forward to using these, so thanks Pat!

Tag Tuesday-Spring is in the Air

The topic on Tag Tuesday this week is  Spring is in the Air ,
which is a lovely theme for a tag!
It seemed so apt for the time of year, but when I started
creating my tag in my studio at the top of the house,
there was a hail storm, and I could hear the hail stones
coming down loudly on the velux windows!
I have enjoyed all the tags posted over the past couple of weeks, but
haven't been able to fit in playing Tag Tuesday myself.
For my tag I used some hand made Indian paper, and
stencilled a bird and nest, using Inktense pencils. The
stencil is very old:-it is one my mum bought  me when
I was a little girl, and somehow it is still intact!
I made borders with  Spring flowers, and stamped
tulips, adding some washi tape, and a cluster of
cardboard buttons in the corner to finish it off.
Today Spring really is in the air, no hail storms, and
the birds are singing at the top of their voices!

Macro shots of Spring flowers

I  have been taking some macro shots of Spring flowers in the house
and garden. It is amazing how much detail there is in the
petals when you look close up.

Tutorial by Carolyn Saxby

One of the pleasures of blogging is to follow other bloggers who are
interested in the same things. It is lovely to connect with other
people working in mixed media and textiles, and to see work which
is brand new. I like to follow other blogs and to see what is happening.
I find it inspiring to keep up with the work of artists that I admire.
One of these artists is Carolyn Saxby, creator of Tag Tuesday , a mixed
media group that I have been part of for a couple of years now.
When Carolyn posted a tutorial on her blog, I knew I had to have a go.
You can find the link to Carolyn's tutorial here.
It is called The Beekeeper's Allotment.

Here are some photos of my version of The Beekeeper's Allotment
The images I used are from The Graphics Fairy
