Spring is Coming!

Snowdrops at the weekend, now here are some other Spring

flowers I spotted, bringing colour and cheer to a dreary

February.

Autumn flowers

These dahlias, which I bought in the market, are such perfect autumn colours.

 Each one is full of pattern and texture. I like taking macro shots to see the 

detail on each petal.

Lytes Cary Manor

I spent a lovely weekend in Somerset, where we visited Lytes Cary Manor.

The house and gardens are beautiful.

Silk Flowers

While I was shopping in the little market town of Wallingford these beautiful blooms caught my eye in the florist's, Branching Out. Although they look like real flowers, they are actually made of silk. It was very difficult to tell which were real and which artificial! I was very taken by the striking colour combinations, especially the orange and purple poppies.

Flowers in France

While I was in France I took these photos of flowers I noticed.

Hydrangeas

 I was inspired by Diana Taylor's blog, Velvet Moth Studio , where she posted some great  photos of hydrangeas. I have been meaning to photograph these hydrangeas I see when walking near my house for a while. I thought they would have turned into full seed heads buy now and was surprised they still had so much colour.  The photos are arranged so they show progression to decay. I liked the holes in the second photo and the skeleton leaf in the third contrasted with the strong pink in the first.
