Tag Tuesday-Winter Landscape

It is time for the last tag of the year for Tag Tuesday, and the subject is Winter Landscape.

I have made a winter landscape picture. I got carried away and forgot it was supposed to be a tag, it actually measures 6" x 8".
My winter sky is watercolour wash with trees drawn in black ink. The trees are made from black card painted with white watercolour with fine glitter added. I made drifts of snow with some white muslin.

I have enjoyed all the tags this year and it has been fun being part of the Tag Tuesday team. I am looking forward to another year of Tag challenges.

Christmas Tree

Here is a photo of our Christmas tree. We always have a real one as I love the smell of fir trees. The Christmas tree farm we go to is called The Tree Barn, and it is at Christmas  Common, which is a lovely name! This is a non-shed tree, so I hope we won't lose too many needles from it. The main problem we have is keeping our three cats away from it. They know they are not supposed to touch it, but can't resist the odd gentle tap on the baubles!

Tag Tuesday-Twelve Days of Christmas

This week's theme on Tag Tuesday is The Twelve Days of Christmas.
I am running a bit late with my tag this week. I seem to have been so busy, both with Christmas related things and art ones. I attended a beading workshop on Tuesday, and we were working with tiny delica beads, very painstaking work, and I made slow progress, although I hope to finish my snowman decoration by Christmas! Then on Thursday it was the last drawing class of the term at our local adult education centre. It has been a great class, and I have learned so much, and have even been doing my homework!
For my Twelve Days of Christmas Tag I chose to do a Partridge in a Pear Tree.
The tree is a shape from an old Christmas card , the partridge was cut from wrapping paper with knitting on it. For the background I stamped snowflakes and stuck silver snowflakes on top.

Aunt Elsie's Christmas Do

I went to Aunt Elsie's Christmas Do in Reading on Saturday. There was a marquee filled with stalls selling products by local artists and makers, mulled cider and a great atmosphere. It was run by The Jelly Legg'd Chicken, know as Jelly , which you can find at:- http://jelly.org.uk/ for information about local artists and makers and forthcoming events, art classes and workshops.

Tag Tuesday-Angels

The theme for Tag Tuesday this week is Angels.
For my tag this week I have taken inspiration from the early Italian Renaissance painters of the 13th and 14th centuries. I have spent a lot of time looking at the way they painted angels in their religious scenes. I chose to use this image by Fra Angelico (Guido di Pietro)  who lived from c.1395-1455, and was described by the great Italian writer Vasari in his the Lives of Artists as having "a rare and perfect talent"
I used an old Christmas card with the image of Fra Angelico's painting Annunciating Angel
and photocopied it onto fabric. The angel was then embellished with gold pens and embossing powder and collaged onto a halo ( from another old Christmas card) . The angel's wings were made from Angelina fibre. The whole angel was mounted onto a gelli printed background which was stamped with stars and embossed .

Wallingford Castle

Here are some photos taken from Wallingford Castle. The ruins of this mediaeval castle give a great vantage point over Wallingford and the surrounding area. The River Thames is visible below, and on a clear day you can see for miles.

Always on the look out for texture, I loved the stone carved archway.
