Here are some of my samples . I experimented with paint on cloth. I am thinking about how the background will be, and how to add colour and texture onto it. The stitch will come next. When I have decided on the background I will experiment with stitched appliqued fabric on top.

I painted some rough strips of calico with acrylic. They are the size the finished piece will be, to see the effect at this scale.
You haven't said what you think of the various results, or are you still very much in the testing phase?
ReplyDeleteI like the scrim and 3d fabric medium (texture - I'm so predictable!) and also the almost watercolour(?) look of the acrylic on cotton.
The last picture is scary - those are BIG pieces of material & I find the paint on those looks a little skimpy. I know that this is only the background, but....
still - great progress!
