Tag Tuesday-Circus

The theme for this week's Tag Tuesday is CIRCUS.

I made some letters and coloured them with oil pastels for a jolly circus idea.

The tag is a clothing tag (having four sons can be useful, especially when they go on shopping sprees and bring back great tags!)

The background is also coloured with oil pastels.

I did two versions, as it was enjoyable. I couldn't decide which I liked best.

Spain-mountain villages

We visited some delightful mountain villages in Spain. I think this one is Pampaneira.

The colourful rugs are made of cotton, and are typical of the region. The  water channel runs right through the village. There are a few tourists, but it remains unspoilt .

Spain-textures inside the cortijo

These pretty ceramics were used as decorations on the deep yellow walls of the cortijo. I think they are very textural. The colour combination really set off the colour of the walls.

 These brown ones are also ceramic, although they look as though they have been carved out of wood, which is very clever.

Spain-house and garden

Here are some photos of the lovely holiday house and garden we stayed in . 

The house is a former farmhouse or cortijo, beautifully converted. 

What to do except swim and lounge about by the pool, gazing at the mountains and watching the bee-eaters.

September

September is here already. I have had a lovely relaxing August. For the first couple of weeks the Olympics were on, and I watched a lot of it on tv. I was also lucky enough to have tickets to go to the rowing at Eton Dorney, where we saw Katherine Grainger and Anna Watkins winning gold for Team GB, which was so exciting. The atmosphere there was amazing, the crowd so loud, and mostly supporting GB. 

We went a second time to Eton Dorney to watch the canoeing. This time the crowd were predominantly Hungarian, and we found ourselves in the midst of a sea of red, white and green, caught up in their excitement as their country claimed victory.

After the Olympics we went to Spain for a couple of weeks, in search of sunshine, which we found! We had a lovely holiday in the mountains near Granada, just me, Richard and our youngest,  Guy, who is fourteen. It was quite different from the family holidays we used to have with all four children. We spent most of the time gazing at the mountains and lounging by the pool with the occasional dip in it to cool down!

August break

I am taking a break from blogging for the month of August. I plan to watch the Olympics, recharge my batteries, finish off some of my unfinished projects and maybe catch a little sun.
